A Day Trip to Unawatuna Beach

Month: April 2016

Transportation: By Train from Colombo Fort.

Unawatuna Beach

Unawatuna Beach 2

This is the second day of my adventure to Galle. Today friends from my university joined with me to have a good relaxed day. (for travel details read my other article about surfing) After arriving at Galle Station we got into the cab that we hired and started our journey towards the beach. We arrived the beach around 11 and the SUN WAS BLAZING HOT! We hit the beach as soon as we changed into out swim suits.

The Beach & Waves

This is a different kind of a beach. It has the slope towards the sea and you get huge waves that go up to 10ft and that is from 5m towards the sea. So be careful if you are not a good swimmer don’t get into the water from middle part of the beach. There is a spot where it is not like that place is a little bit crowded.

The Ride

You can get into one of the boats with your friends and go on a boat ride. They take you near the rocks and you have a clear view of underwater through the viewing glass of the boat. The ride is a lot of fun because it is a bumpy ride. Boat steers on the big waves launching you into sky literally so hang into something or otherwise you can have a nice bath.

Photography

If you are a photographer and you love nature there are plenty of scenes for you to capture. Check out the gallery for the photos.

Football, Ball Passing & Rugger

If you are here with you friends it is a great place to play one of above, you can have so much fun!!! But make sure that you play in the morning or evening else you can get burned really bad.

Other Activates

Deep Sea Diving, Snorkeling, Jet sky, Surfing (Not so great here but available)
