An open letter to fellow travelers,

A

Dear traveler,

I hope you are enjoying your vacation/trip/time on the road. I know it is wonderful to be amazed by sights, get lost in the crowd and feel the nature. It is indeed a great pleasure and a privilege. I know the feeling when you get a lot of likes to your picture on Facebook, hearts in Instagram and people view you as a travel expert. In my case, I haven’t travelled much, but people come for advice.

Long walks with man’s best buddy!

It is all great. I am writing this letter to you in order to remind you about the other side of travelling. The side that you and I do not talk about. Sometimes we are the reason or cause for that.

Do you remember the time that you saw plastic water bottles on a beach?

Do you remember those polythene rappers near a waterfall?

Do you remember those liquor bottles near a river?

Do you remember those lunch packets on a top of a mountain?

Polluted Beach

Do you remember?

Do you remember the way you turned a blind eye and moved on? You might have cursed or blamed the person who did it. Maybe you were the person who threw the polythene rappers or the lunch packet. Maybe you wanted to clean it but it was too messy. So you moved on.

Do you remember the way you simply moved on? Because that’s what I did. I am guilty of that.

You and I, We are privileged to travel. A lot of people go to our Instagram, Facebook, blog, vlog, and so on. Everyone wants to travel. Just like we do.

I am telling you,
I am asking you,
I am begging you!

Don’t turn a blind eye and move on.

The next time you see someone who throws away a polythene bag. Stop them. (Sometimes it can be stopping yourself)

Next time you goto the supermarket tell them that you don’t need that shopping bag.

Next time you go on a trip, take an extra bag to collect garbage. Especially if you are going on camping, hiking or trekking.

You and I have a responsibility. It is not posting amazing beaches and breathtaking landscapes online. But to protect Nature, educate your friends & audience about the responsibility.

Ultimately preserve what You and I saw, to the next person that comes.
